The Warrior

“I was commissioned by Petros Restaurant in Manhattan Beach, California to create a Greek-themed piece for the entry way of the restaurant. Petros envisioned a masculine work that captured the spirit of the Spartan wars. I photographed a Spartan warrior's steel helmet crowned with blaring red horsehair, creating a dramatic presence for the space. The piece incorporated C.P. Kavafis' poem "The Odyssey", as it is of particular significance to Petros.”

Kilter

“My client had collected over 800 Hello Kitty pencils since she was a child, and asked me to create modern art with them. I used the pencils as pegs between six shelves of hand-carved wood, and drilled 1,200 holes to hold them in place. Only one pencil lies flat - my signature ‘Jennifer’ pencil. The misaligned pencils mirror life’s inevitable rhythm; just when all our ducks are in a row, life brings unexpected twists and turns.”

Jennifer H: “The pencil piece that Jen created for me is the most meaningful and unique work of art that I will ever own. The finished work is incredibly eye-catching and has proven to be a conversation piece over the years. The process however, was also meticulous and really exemplifies Jen’s great attention to detail. She suggested many different approaches to preserving and displaying my childhood pencil collection, all of which were meaningful. Ultimately what spoke to me was the placement of the pencils in a way that reflected the waves of the ocean, similar to our journey on earth. I’m so grateful for Jen’s talents!”

Arc De Peru

“I returned from an awe-inspiring trip to Peru with my sister and wanted to create a piece that captured the most memorable experiences and sentiment of our travels. I used my Photomosaic styling on the bright-green moss-covered steps (which surrounded the Inca Citidel in Machu Picchu.) The steps frame the monumental church door which I shot in the main square in Cuzco. In my dream-like vision, The church door opens out to the breathtaking view from the top of Machu Picchu that we finally reached. Lounging around on the doorway and the church steps are the beautiful animals that were a main highlight for me: a family of Alpacas from Cuzco, Tamarin monkeys, Capybarras, lizards, Chinchilla and Macaw from the Amazon rainforest, and Green parrots in the Sacred Valley. The Alpacas approach the Salt mines (which were astounding in Maras, North of Cuzco) at the bottom of the steps.”

Spyker

With a great love for cars, my client and I agreed that his gorgeous Spyder Spyker would be the perfect subject for me to photograph and design an art installation for their home. I was inspired to create a four panel piece, with the most unique parts of the car showcased on each of four panels. The piece was finished with a resin topcoat, bringing out the modern, polished appearance of the car.

I Stand For

“I was commissioned to memorialize a year in the life of an adventurous soul who managed a picture of herself doing a handstand every day for one year in different locations throughout the world. I was presented with the challenge of creating an artistic abstraction from 400 (fantastic!) pictures.”

Stacia C:

“I was so happy and excited to have Jenny capture my year of handstands! When she finished the piece, it was exactly what I wanted. Even in the beginning when she sorted through my photos, she had a great intuition of what I envisioned. Every space between photos is either ocean or sky and the juxtaposition of the photos was very well thought out.”

Out to Sea

Photomosaic on ceramic tile

“Standing at the tip of a pier, I had seconds to capture the perfect shot as my client sailed his beautiful boat past me numerous times. Using the process of dye sublimation, I transferred my chosen image to ceramic tile, one by one, and incorporated sail fabric and metal in to the framing.”
